When my husband and I first started dating, I knit a little green fish for him. When he proposed to me, I knit him a little pink fish. When I found out I was pregnant, I knit a teeny tiny little blue-green fish and let him puzzle over it for a few minutes. When he looked up at me with a surprised look on his face I told him, “You’re gonna be a Daddy!”

take 2 preg test and wrap one in blue and one in pink, tell him you have a gift for him and ask him to pick which color he wants, then let him unwrap it and watch his face!

I left little hints for my husband for days. First I bought him new sneakers (size baby lol), then pink and blue lollipops and finally a baby sized t-shirt, he had no idea he thought it was a joke! The last day I took a test right before my husband came in the door and put it in a necklace box all wrapped up pretty in a bow. When he came in he asked “oh no did I forget something? is today your birthday my birthday, our anniversary? what am i forgetting?” I let him think about it for a minute before telling him to open the box. At first he just looked at me until me said…”OMG I’m gonna be a daddy?” I thought I was pretty creative.

I have always wanted to do this but I haven’t had a chance because my husband was in the bathroom when I took the test. But this is what I would do. I would go buy a plain white onesie, and some fabric paint and write on there your going to be a daddy…..then wrap it up, make him dinner and at the end of the supper tell him you have a surprise for him then give him the onsie wrapped up in a box, and I think his head will spin, I think its brilliant, and if you do use that idea you have to tell me how he reacted if you wish to of.

I’ve been thinking about putting his shoes right inside the door so that he has to see them. Then a few feet away I’ll put my shoes and then my oldest’s and then my youngest’s. And after that I’ll put a pair of little gender neutral, teenie baby shoes and see if he figures it out.

If it was an unexpected, happy surprise, I would make a fancy romantic dinner and serve it by candlelight. After dinner, I would give him a small, nicely wrapped box containing the positive pregnancy test or a picture of the positive pregnancy test. If it was anticipated and just waiting for confirmation, I would get a half dozen pink and a half dozen blue helium-filled balloons and tie them to the railing that he immediately sees when he walks in the front door. Then I would buy and wrap several “Daddy” presents - a board book about daddies, a Daddy bib, a Daddy onesie, etc. and leave that on the bottom step for him to open. I would be peeking around the corner to see his face when he walked in and when he opened his gift,
