Question for African Americans?
Today, as I was walking across campus, I saw a car that had “I love my black President” written across the back. I have also seen banners saying the exact same things across campus. I can completely understand the overcoming of racial issues that the nation has overcome with the election, but isn’t that a reversal of what African Americans are looking for? I thought this election was supposed to erase race as an issue, but by saying “my black President” instead of just “my President”, isn’t that going one step forward and two steps back?
Also, what if the roles were reversed? Had John McCain won this election and someone had written “I love my white President”, wouldn’t that be deemed politically incorrect?

The election of someone who is not from the typical origin and background of past presidents to the highest office in gov. is groundbreaking. By stating “I love my black president” they are putting an emphasis on him being of direct african origin, unlike all previous office holders. Which many believe is the forefront of a major change. Race can never be eliminated it is there and it is not always a bad thing.
And if McCain was pres. it would be “I love my octogenarian president”
